Bombardier Statement on Accident at JFK International
Airport Project Site in New York

MONTREAL, QUEBEC--SEPTEMBER 30, 2002 - 12:09 EDT
An accident that occurred on Friday, September
27, 2002, resulted in the death of a Bombardier employee, Kelvin
DeBourgh. The company is deeply saddened by this tragic accident
and extends its prayers and heartfelt condolences to Mr.
DeBourgh's family, co-workers, friends and the people of his
community.

When advised of the accident involving three Advanced Rapid
Transit vehicles during testing, Bombardier Transportation's
senior executives immediately traveled to New York and
concurrently deployed teams of specialists to support its local
JFK project personnel. These experts are cooperating fully with
the National Transportation Safety Board, who is leading a
thorough investigation. Any speculation on the cause of the
accident at this time would be premature and inappropriate.
