John,

I'm long on the semi equipment. I think most bottomed out around
book value. If I were you, I would wait 2-3 months for all the bad
news to get out first. These $3.1B in new orders for the month of
June along with slow summer will translate into very poor earnings
next quarter for most semi's. I agree with you that if your time
horizon is 2-3 years, 30 is not a bad price for Altera. I'm not
so sure about Altera but I think Xylinx is even more risky at this
point. They only corrected 40% in the last six months.
