I happened to catch a bit of the Today show on the matter this morning. They had Tim Russert talking about this. The NJ SC currently has a 4-2-1 split in Dem/Rep/other appointments. Russert had a dry comment about how unusual it would be for election laws to work out in line with the partisan slant of the current court majority.
