On talk radio in NJ this morning one caller asked what would happen if Torricelli resigned from the Senate "just" before the election? Gov. McGreevy would be entitled by law to appoint a replacement, and schedule a new election for next year. What a disgusting manipulation of the political process that would be, but nothing would surprise me now.
