Anyone have access to reports from CSFB? The presentation by Qualcomm and KDDI in Japan might be interesting.

Frequency Hop – The Wireless Flash Preview
Tim Long
This edition of the Frequency Hop highlights the upcoming week’s events that could act as catalysts in our wireless equipment coverage universe.
* CSFB Japan Wireless Conference, Tokyo, Japan: The Japanese market provides a unique opportunity to analyze competing standards of advanced wireless networks. CSFB will host a conference featuring presentations from Microsoft (MSFT,$46.21, Outperform,$89), KDDI (9433,¥357, Neutral, ¥350), Fujitsu (6702, ¥520, Outperform, ¥1240), and Qualcomm (QCOM, $29.11, Neutral, $25). We anticipate the conference will provide valuable insight into the strategies and outlook for Japan and globally from leaders in the wireless industry.
* RIMM (RIMM, $9.25, Neutral, $10) Reports FQ2:03 Earnings: We expect the company to report $77M in revenue, up seq. from $71.6M in FQ1, and a loss of ($0.18) loss per share compared to ($0.18) in FQ1. The company has suffered from enterprise spending cuts on wireless applications, yet we believe the company is well positioned for an uptick in market demand and enterprise spending.
* Conferences Could Provide Visibility: We anticipate that the Americas GSM Conference in Sao Paulo, Brazil and the UMTS Conference in Paris, France could provide a better insight into growth drivers for GSM and UMTS maybe going forward. GSM network growth has slowed recently and the rollout of UMTS networks continues to be faced with technological hurdles.
* CDG Conference: We also will be closely watching developments at the CDG conference in San Francisco for development on the CDMA front. This conference has traditionally been a forum for announcing CDMA news flow and we expect announcements for new deployments, technological developments, and vendor strategy.. |
