Shootie, Right now the system favors the snipers. People can block the snipers by all uysing the proxy system. Since new bis come on line all the time the way to deal with this is flexible end of bidding. Always leave another minute or two for the final bidders. Then sniping is dead as can be.

Sniping is just one way to cheat people, I feel no qualms at stopping sniping with an extended close system. You can leave that to the seller, if he wants extended close, tick a box.
Bidders can also choose not to bid on extended close auctions by stopping the search from finding them, again, another tick box.

The only thing keeping them is Omidyar?? wants to keep them. he cares not that it hurts Ebay, his money is secure.

bill.
