This concept of "political capital" that can be banked or spent is nonsense. To the extent that politicians buy into it, they and we suffer.

Leaders don't manage their capital. They lead. They pick their fights carefully sure, but you've got to go in and do what's right. You say what you think regardless of the polls. And if you have to, you CONVINCE people you're right. That's what politicians are SUPPOSED to be good at.
