can you imagine 3 or 4 people bidding the same item going back and forth for .50 cents every 15 minutes at the end of an auction.....hell, they could run the clock into the wee hours of the morning....

The next rule would be that nobody is allowed artificial stimulants to keep awake if the bidding war passed midnight PST.

The end is the end. If a person doesn't put up the cash by proxy they are finished. They lose. This isn't a be nice to your neighbor game. The guy with the most money on the line wins. That's all there is to it.
