I think it's odd that people would feel rich when they owe thousands per month on a debt as huge as a mortgage. If people really are spending money simply because they think their home values are going up, they are just as blind as people who spent lots of money several years ago, simply because their stock portfolios were going up.

Seems to me the money has to be sitting in the bank before one feels rich. But whadda I no? Never been rich or felt rich.
