A recent poll shows 44% of Americans believe God created humans within the last 10,000 years, 40% believe creationism should be taught instead of evolution in public schools.

So in the grand scheme of things this may be a blip (as you could argue Galileo was a blip) but at the moment it's a pretty big bump.
