"I'd be hard pressed to think of any compelling minuses." For who? Materialistic, childless, career women, who were raised in a two parent family who provided the resources for a good education, enriching social involvement, and support throughout young adulthood... OK, but...I'm having a problem seeing where this is going, if we are talking about societal norms? The minuses for this very tiny sub-class of beings may be only on a purely personal level. However, society is wrought with devastating social ills that can be attributed directly to a shift in family dynamics...starting with the difficulties of making the system work as a single parent.
