Xilinx ISE WebPACK 5.1i Supports New Devices and Tools To Improve User Productivity
Enhancements to Free Downloadable Tool Enable Use of Lower Cost CoolRunner(R)-II, Spartan(R)-IIE, and Virtex-II(TM) Series Families

(Nasdaq: XLNX - News), the leader in programmable logic IC and software solutions, today announced availability of ISE WebPACK 5.1i; the industry's most comprehensive, easy-to-use downloadable design environment for designers of CPLDs and FPGAs. This new version of ISE WebPACK delivers an average of 15 percent higher circuit performance than the previous version, making it possible to reduce system cost through the use of lower speed grade, less expensive devices.
New additions to ISE WebPACK 5.1i include many of the features first made available in ISE 5.1i, which began shipping in August. ISE WebPACK 5.1i allows designers to finish faster with less risk using key new features, such as
-- Advanced Pinout and Area Constraints Editor (PACE) to simplify the
pre-assignment of device I/O and logic.
-- Seamless integration of Synplicity's synthesis tools to provide greater
ease of use for engineers using Synplify and Synplify Pro. ISE WebPACK
now offers support for all leading programmable logic synthesis tools.
-- Architecture wizards to streamline the design of Xilinx Rocket IO
multi-gigabit serial transceivers and complex clocking schemes using
Xilinx digital clock manager.
-- True incremental design which preserves the placement and routing of
unchanged blocks to enable more design turns per day.
-- XML Fitter Reports to allow quick and easy navigation of design reports
ISE WebPACK 5.1i also employs a unique installation method directly from the Xilinx web site that optimizes the number of files transferred and allows for recovery in the case of interruption.
