Keep in mind, as mish pointed out, stock securities are only paper. At some point, to use an old cliche, their value may not even be worth the paper they're printed on.

I'd say the odds of that aspect of devaluation happening is much better than most realize. The geopolitical / global economic climate of this new century is very precarious. Take a look at this report and national debt vs national income chart, then Sandeep can try to say with a straight face that there is no way MSFT would trade for $10 in the future. $40B cash right now will not mean squat.
