Ray, the problem is egocentric people imbued with a belief in their own intellect and importance. They can quite genuinely believe they really should be political leaders for the best of motives. They probably are supremely intelligent.

But look at Robert McNamara's humbling. He grew to realize that he had totally got things wrong and that he was personally directly responsible for carnage. What a horrible position to be in. [I think I have that right].

Brezinski, Kissinger and others are full of their own importance and intellect. They really might be super smart, ethical and so on [not saying those particular people]. They really do try to get things good [and not just for themselves and their personal conspiracy]. But as the central planners of the USSR found, the world is simply too complex to centrally plan; there is always the law of unintended consequences.

I know I've changed my ideas since I was 20 years old, once I'd learned a lot more and just how the world functions. Fortunately, I didn't have to make decisions on behalf of too many people then. I'd hesitate to make decisions for them now - probably even more so than then, because now I'm far more aware of my limitations.

< once in a while the ugly heart of the globalization conspiracy is exposed.>

Oh, cool! I'm in a conspiracy too. I wonder if I can get a cdma2000 globalization job. BTW, I should admit that Mike Moore, who was previously WTO Chief Boss Man, used to hang out with me and my buddy in Mangere/Otahuhu in the 1960s.... We've conspired ever since and got him right to the top. My buddy and he used to give out political leaflets and then drink conspiratorial beer... I should also admit to contact with QUALCOMM people and having met Irwin Jacobs who of course hangs out with Brent Scowcroft who is/was buddies with George I, Condoleezza Rice. Irwin also used to hang out with Bill Clinton and got a decoration from Al Gore [for Technology or something]... We conspirators have got the globe covered. I will not just now reveal our Asian links for fear of blowing your fuse. I didn't think you'd get onto us so quickly.
