Good points. My understanding is that we are indeed vigorously pursuing terrorists all over the world with active assistance from many, many countries. The issue of Iraq is linked to terrorism and self-defense in your mind, but not in the minds of the rest of the world -- so we don't get their cooperation. If we intend to go into Iraq, we could do an infinitely better job of explaining why and formulating a policy that does not look quite so much as a lisence for unbridled aggression by anybody with a beef against another country.

Not unreasonable. However, the cooperation and perception of our policies amongst the nations of the world is colored by self-interest, and ideology, as much or more so than convincing argumentation. France and Russia, for instance, oppose attacking Iraq out of economic concerns. Much of the opposition to any of Bush's policies will be pushed by political opposition to a Republican President, especially in Europe.

BUT, much of the opposition is a result of the way the Administration has approached the issue. They aren't the flesh-pressers and ass-kissers (sorry Ken) that the Clintonistas were. They are direct, forward, and upfront in asserting our national interests without the padding of diplomatic friendly white lies. They could spin it better. But then they would be accused of being sneaky about it! :P
