Re: Wonder what the revenue miss will mean in terms of a loss for the quarter? With their fixed costs, they could see a real cash hit.

It probably means ~($300M) for the quarter's earnings number, with the cash flow situation being similar. AMD really does have an amazing way of totally "blowing through" earnings estimates. I think the understanding before this was that AMD could limp along at a ~($200M)ish/quarter burn rate for the year, and then with an economic pickup in 2003 and a good hammer make another run at Intel, but this burn rate acceleration is quite ugly, and is especially problematic given the not insignificant possibility that the economy doesn't pick up in 1H/2003.

If Hammer is good, I still think they can get back to black soon enough to avoid the Tench/bmw/Paul/etc. wet-dream death-to-AMD scenario, but, it's, obviously, all the more critical that they hit on all cylinders when Hammer finally launches.
