The incidents should be addressed in their own right. A race riot is a crime. Harrassment is a legal offense. Assault is assault. Imtimidation is an offense. Those who were responsible for those activities should be identified and punished appropriately, certainly including suspension from the college for as long as their victims remained students, and perhaps expulsion, depending on the circumstances.

It is neither necessary nor appropriate for the bad acts of some to be allowed to restrict the free speech rights of the innocent.

No ties, eh? Ah, the dwindling of standards.
