To further bolster its expertise in medical products. AMI Semiconductor, Pocatello, Idaho, has acquired the Micro Power Products Division of Microsemi Corp. for an undisclosed amount.

The purchase of Microsemi's Micro Power Products Division, a Carlsbad, Calif., supplier of mixed-signal ASICs for medical applications, is the second acquisition completed by AMIS this year. In April, AMI Semiconductor purchased Alcatel Microelectronics' mixed-signal business.

AMI Semiconductor has partnered with medical device manufacturers for many years. Its mixed-signal and sensor solutions have been designed into dozens of medical monitoring, medical telemetry, remote patient monitoring, and diagnostics/alarm applications.

"AMI Semiconductor is very excited about this acquisition," said Christine King, president and chief executive of AMI Semiconductor, in a statement. "In addition to new medical customers and developed products, we will acquire a great deal of know-how in developing low voltage, low power medical devices."
