There's another point. Even if things aren't as bad as you think they are (and personally, I think they are that bad in many parts of the country), there is still a huge problem with the "it's not great but the bottom isn't falling out" scenario as well.

Even at these low levels, Intel (and most tech stocks) are priced as if there were some liklihood of sustained growth from here. I don't see that as being the case. So unless the turn comes soon, I expect to see things continue to grind downwards.

I had a really bad night and missed the > $15 print this morning, otherwise I would have entered a new short at that price. Oh well, I suspect there'll be others. Quite likely we get a good bounce in the morning as Bear Stearns unwinds their "mistake" from this afternoon, and every trader on the street tries to front-run them.

The first hour tomorrow is likely to be as interesting as the last hour today.
