Well, conflict has presumably been going on since the beginning of time... Some of these religions are what, a few thousand years old... Christianity a couple thousand. I'm suggesting that your assertion is somewhat meaningless in the scope of mans history. On top of that my earlier posts point to religion essentially being inseperable from 'culture' itself... so although it is popular to point at religion as THE culprit, in fact religion just happend to be the structure of the society at the time. Some of the more recent wars are based on nationalism as the structure of society changed... with religious lines drawn of course since it is still part of all societies fabric.

Lastly... the entire discussion started with JHP extrapolating the teachings of religious figures [Jesus, Mohammed, Buddha, etc] to be the cause of the use of religion for the purpose of violence in certain cultures today.
