Arizona State University, where Lonchar was said to have gotten a bachelor of
art in accounting, told Dow Jones Newsires that it had no record of a Kenneth E.
Lonchar ever attending the institution.
Veritas officials weren't available for comment.
In a conference call Thursday morning, Veritas Software officials said a
member of its board received an unsolicited e-mail stating that Lonchar had
misrepresented his education credentials. The board member passed the message on
to the company for further review and verification.
According to Baird analyst Renouard, the company didn't indicate if it had
checked out his other credentials.
Lonchar started his tenure with Veritas as chief financial officer in 1997. He
was vice president of OpenVision from December 1995 until its merger with
Veritas.
