zonder: If you really would like to understand the Americans and the United States a bit better, this FADG group is a good place to be. It is peopled by people from all over the US, and the world, with a wide variety of experience and political thought as well. We don't always agree with each other as you can see.

While I haven't visited your country as yet, hopefully someday I will be able to do that. If I wanted to understand your country, I would listen. Then ask questions. After thinking about the answers I would receive, THEN I might insert some of my preconceived notions, and see what the reactions might be.

The purpose of this board is to discuss Foreign Affairs as it relates to the world in general and to our lives every day.

I would say that most of us are learning from everyone else here....sometimes we learn that our preconceived notions are right after all, and sometimes we learn that we have more to learn.

As far as your belief that you "can't trust Bush any more than Saddam"....I would encourage you to read more of the comments here with an open mind, and also to read more of the US press and the writers, and opinions on ALL sides of an issue.

Yes, the US has a huge arsenal. So what? This is a big country. There are countries with larger populations. There are countries with larger militaries than we have.

Can you name a time when the US took over any countries land and people? EVER?

I'd be interested to see what you, and other Europeans believe about the US, and why.....
