EMC cuts 1350 jobs, or 7% of workforce. They must have about 19K workers or so currently, after this 17.5K?

Last year (I read in another PR) they cut 5200 jobs in 2 different layoffs. There are usually a lot more people actually cut than these PRs indicate- software companies call them "performance related" rifs and all kinds of trickery like that.

Still just taking this at face value it looks like EMC *which is a very large company* has cut 1/3 their staff. The applied people tell me after this next cut applied will have 1/2 staff levels from the peak. How can unemployment in SV stay around 10%, I have to wonder.
