Jeff, that was the story that was circulating around SSL. You are probably right, but BA did sweeten the offer somehow and it looks like SSL may have lost the award.

Safety: BA to supply F-16's through GD? Does not make sense to me. Why would Boeing offer a Lockheed product? They might offer to buy 16s and replace then with Boeing products (15 or 18s). Fighters are a much better business than satellites - especially to countries where you can sell infrastructure support. Both the sat and the fighters have to be approved through US Govt channels, so a new fighter offer is beyond Boeing's ability to promise. They certainly would not champion Lockheed's planes through Congress.
