<<Non - Violence --- What a novel idea !-- <GGG>>> Actually, the Palestinians DID try non-violence (relatively speaking) in the First Intifadah between 1987-1988. They had no guns, no bombs, and suicide bombers were unheardof as a weapon then (the first suicide bombing didn't occur against Israel until after Baruch Goldstein murdered 29 Palestinians inside of a mosque in 1995ish). Palestinians mostly resorted to throwing stones at Israeli soldiers, and holding mass demonstrations...we all remember those daily images on TV of Israeli soldiers beating the tar out of 15 year old boys. The Palestinians tried mass demonstrations and non-violence then, and it really didn't get them much (except a lung-full of tear gas, broken limbs, and rubber bullets). I guess they decided that they needed a change of strategy... Also, I will leave you with this simple question. If Israel TRULY wanted peace, why in 35 years of occupation to this day, have they never ONCE halted settlement building...full-well knowing that settlements are a major obstacle to peace?
