With all due respect are any of those quotes anything that you wouldn't or couldn't have said yourself? What I mean is those things seem self evident. They are reasonable and honest and demonstrate qualities that are admirable but had the man on the street said them I doubt you would give it a second thought. It would be reasonable to assume that one or two religious leaders out of many might have something positive and constructive to say ( although clearly not earth shaking).Sadly you seem to be defeating your own argument as it appears the only thing unusual is that they have come from a religious leader. Shall we compare this to the daily comments we hear in the news from Muslim clerics? Or perhaps from Catholic priests defending the latest scandal? Maybe you could tell me something profound coming from the Pope.

Do you believe that the history of violence and repression that has evolved from religion has been surpassed by the good ( certainly some good has come from religion)?

Of course this is an indictment of organized religion and not the teachings of religious founders. Still it is the results of their teachings and what religion is and has been thus they must bear some of the responsibilities .

Me thinks that you will be hard pressed to defend both history and current practice of religion by quoting the current Dalai Lama.....

BTW Didn't Henery Kissenger or somebody get a "Peace prize" for stopping the bombing in Viet Nam?
