| Yes, it would be horrible to impose one's moral and value judgments upon someone who believed that Jews were not much more than vermin, and who espoused and promoted exterminationist policies towards Jews, gypsies, homosexuals, political radicals, and the like. Think of how awful it would be to indicate to your students that you found the Holocaust vile, and to express contempt for those who defended it. By God, we should never even have fought the Nazis, what right did we have to prevent them from completing their exterminationist and expansionist projects? After all, they just had a different point of view, no better or worse than ours, and where do we come off, having mistreated our Indians and blacks and other minorities, in taking a stand, anyway? I mean, I am incensed at the thought that we should ever take a stand on anything, given our past, or the fact that not all social evils have yet been cured. Really, the arrogance of the United States is astounding, thinking it is better than Nazi Germany or Stalinist Russia.........[scuse me while I vomit]...... |
