True, but they were more than happy to restrict the number of trades in and out of a fund over a given time. There fore discouraging trading and promoting buy and hold.
Did this facilitate people getting slaughtered? Probably.
I'm surprised no lawsuits have been filed against fund companies. Maybe they have, we just don't know about it.
