The Iraqi Kurds to reconvene Parliament. Imo the Iraqi Kurds would not even consider a move like this if the they did not consider that Saddam was weakening significantly and/or his demise was imminent. ;o}

The parliament emerged in 1992 when the Kurds held their first free democratic elections....

A KDP high- ranking delegation headed by the KDP leader Massud Barzani visited the PUK secretary general Jalal Talabani today,at his office in his Dukan Summer Resort. Mr.Barzani's visit came at a time when the people of Kurdistan and Iraq,are expecting dramatic and political changes in the region.

The PUK secretary general welcomed Mr.Barzani and his delegation,and expressed his hope that the meeting would help to further cooperation between both the PUK and KDP. The KDP leader described Mr.Talabani's visit to Salahadeen as a,significant initiative in repairing
the relationship between the PUK and KDP,resulting in the signing of the September 8th accord in the town of Salahadeen.

The meeting focused on the expected session of the Kurdistan National Assembly on the 4th of October,and the new responsibilities for all those involved in this historic event. Both sides agreed that strengthening ties between both sides will be vital in moving, towards a democratic, pluralist and federal Iraq. The meeting reiterated that both parties should speak
with one voice, to the international community,to assure further
support for the Kurdish issue.
