The intelligent person will realize that there are societial structures which make his or her life, and that of his or her family, more beneficial. Thus, he or she will realize that acts which support the community can be self-serving.

What if you knew you could get away with stealing or embezelling money. The amount would be large enough to make your finacial situation much better (perhaps an amount you needed to pay off a debt you could not otherwise service), but small enough (and done skillfully enough) to avoid detectition and to not seriously harm the organization you are taking the money from and it doesn't become public so it does not encourage others to commit similar crimes. Unless you feel you would be tormented by guilt it seems that it would be in your self interest to take the money, but would it be moral in your opinion?
