First, it is clearly conventional, with little or no rationale in fundamental values. Second, you have articulated a reason to revise it, certainly in your own case, which I have stipulated as behaving responsibly. Third, the notion that I am a prig for insisting that there are "oughts" beyond the standard of harming others is laughable. I have been one of those least prone to recriminate with others, most prone to defend people and seek amicable solutions. I have been, by and large, tolerant, kind, and considerate. Acting as if I am an uptight ass is rather offensive to me.
