When this discussion started, I looked the various words up in the dictionary, as I typically do. This is the definition of "duty" that I had in mind coming into it, and I said that I considered "duty" more serious than an apology.

My association with that word is mostly a function of my civil service career and my husband's military career.

Even the definition that seemed closest to what Neo was describing...

...seemed more serious than an apology. When I think of duty, I think of professional responsibilities, public health concerns, not apologies.
