Gottfried, interesting article from Barrons. I noticed that it used the S & P 500 as its reference point, and talked about P/E's in the 20 range. I don't know to what extent the S & P reflects NASDAQ stocks, do you?

You are right about the Forbes article I referenced yesterday (indicating the average NASDAQ P/E was 44) being a year old. I glanced at the June 28 lead-in, and assumed it was this year. I went back after your post and looked more closely, and it was 1996, not 1997! Good pick-up.

Anyway, it seems to me that there is a big discrepancy in the 44 average NASDAQ P/E as reported by Forbes (even if it was a year ago), and the 20 P/E area reported by Barrons based upon the S & P 500.

I'm not sure whether this issue is worth looking into any further, or not. Probably not. But it sure has my curiosity aroused! Thanks for your input.
