OK it would not be in your personal self interest but would it not be in the self interest of many other people to take the money if they really could be sure they would not get caught? What if they needed it to pay back a loan shark rather then just a regular loan, or what if they needed it to make the mortgage payment?

Or a more fantastic example that a friend gave to me back in July. If you could cause a random person, who you don't know and would not in the ordinary course of events ever meet or directly rely on for any need to die painlessly and for doing so you would get a sufficently large amount of money (enough to live comfortably for the rest of your life even if you are young or perhaps a real ton of money say a billion after tax dollars) would it be in some one self interest to take the money? I suppose you would say no because you don't think it is in your self interest to accept money you did not earn. But many people do not share that opinion. If you can examine the question starting with the assumption that having more money is in your self interest then please do so.

Anyone else have an opinion or comment on either question?
