Thankyou for the lovely post Christine, I will use it as an aid for my
response in order to save time. See [...........]

Jim, I think you are usually really funny, but I don't really appreciate my posts being edited so NORMAL people can understand them. Who is NORMAL, anyway? [are you sure you want me to answer that?] That is really subjective. I guess you may be attempting irony again, but I have enough going on in my 3D life that I don't have the time to rip people's posts apart word by word or make fun of someone here for weeks on end. [has it been that long?] If you want to criticize [enlighten] me or what I said, I would appreciate your just RESPONDING to my posts instead.

Do environmentalists threaten you or something? [yes, my wallet] Their position is just as valid as yours,[yes if it's true and backed up
with documented proof] and because of freedom of speech [we no
longer have REAL freedom of speech] they have as much right to post their opinions [why do you state your opinions as facts?] here as you do. Was I posting to you? [the context of your post is usually directed to the entire planet] No!!!

I also think that everyone should have the freedom to state their own religious beliefs without being challenged as to whether they have properly identified themselves (in YOUR opinion). I was obviously expressing my OPINIONS in that post to Lyle, based on my religious beliefs, [I would not call a religion which has a total membership of one person a valid religion] just as all of you are free to post your opinions and state your own religious beliefs. [how boring] I was not castigating your religious beliefs, [I have none] and would appreciate the same level of respect.[I do not recall being disrespectful to you just because you believe the moon and the sun are real gods]

The only time I think discussions of differing religious OR political beliefs become totally inappropriate here is when the poster is attacking below the belt--an example I noticed recently is that Father Terrence insinuated that someone who did not agree with him had Nazi tendencies. [he probably did] I found that objectionable, [what happened to freedom of speech?] and the person he was posting to asked him to not post to him again, so I said something.

I was not trying to convert you or anyone else to paganism,[it must be
lonely being the only white woman in the country perfoming rain dances when your garden starts drying up] just explaining where I was coming from in a post to someone else. You are welcome to go on and on and on about your wife's fur coats [you sound jealous, would you like her old one?] and animal blood dripping down your chin [do you still remember the last time you ate a T-bone steak? delicious was'nt it?] until you get tired of talking about it, just like I am free to discuss environmentalism! [you mean you're going to read the San Francisco Chronicle and Newsweek magazine to us AGAIN?]

I think the discussion here recently about the planet and the future has been interesting, and I have learned some things. [finally] I hope others who are interested in these subjects have, also. If you don't find these things interesting, [oh, but I do] just click "Next" when you see my name, [I would never do that] because I might be talking about them sometimes. [you mean all the time]

From what you said it doesn't sound like you know anything about the disappearance of krill from the food chain, [I think the whales ate them] or how the sea off Newfoundland is so desolate of fish [someone said they moved to Miami Beach] that there is fear they won't return at all (after a ban on fishing for five years), or how Lake Tahoe is turning green as the result of fertilizer runoff, [are you sure it's not money runoff?] or about the 1,600 dairy farms in the Central Valley that pollute as much as a city of 21 million people, poisoning the ground water [how many children have died?] and killing fish [game fish or trash fish?] in the Delta, or how much space debris IS orbiting out there,[what are the odds of being hit on the head?] or anything about companies like Shaman Therapeutics or the medicines we do get from the earth,[ALL medicine comes from the earth] or that the great apes have advanced reasoning skills [why can't they be potty trained?] and may be acting RATIONALLY [by deciding which banana to eat first?] in much that they do, but I don't really feel that it is my job to spend this evening educating you. [you mean what you read in the paper today?] It is your right not to want to know any of these things. [I read the NY Times so I'm familiar with most of it] I just don't see why some people who find ignorance of environmental issues amusing are so critical of people who are concerned. [what are you doing about it? are you still flushing the toilet or digging a hole in your garden when you have to go?]

I will write about those things when and if I feel like it, just as everyone here has the freedom of speech to write about killing animals and wearing furs [we covered that already] if you wish to do that. I don't see why we cannot all write how we feel, without ridiculing [lets call it constructive criticism] each other. Sometimes we are being playful with each other, but sometimes it goes beyond that, and your post felt mean-spirited to me.

Anyway, I think it is a pretty low-class sport to just rip someone's posts apart, line by line, for your own amusement. [is this one any better?]
