Maybe she gets pleasure out of obsessing on the horrible injustices of the world

Lotsa people spend lotsa time in that activity, so it may, indeed, be pleasurable. But it's also useless and painful. It seems to me one could get one's pleasure in more constructive ways. It's probably a habit for your mom, a byproduct of the scheme she grew up with, too late to change now.
