I think the hand full of highly publicized cases do not serve as an indictment of all of corporate America. Yes, there are crooks and no doubt they should be punished. In actuality the system worked. The poorly managed companies went belly up.

Overall I don't think it is wise for a corporation to reward short term market moves versus long term profitability. Management actions should be focused on the long term viability of the firm.

I agree that some management incentives are obscene but I'd say the same about some professional athletes and entertainers as well. Maybe it just illustrates that high end talent in any field is rare.
