I see the same problem with "nice". Some people see milquetoast as "nice"- because it is inoffensive. Some people think the only "nice" people are people like themselves. So nice is hard. I happen to think reasonable is more objective, but that may be a prejudice. Anytime you get close to subjective things like "niceness" or "decent" or "good" I think the going gets rough.
