Kinross will have severe problems in the coming months.
As European and other central banks consider selling partially or totally their reserves because
A) they're tired of its lacklustre performance
B) it's the least politically sensitive way for them to clean up
their books and qualify for the EU.
C) it has lost its main role as a means of stabilizing their currencies, and thus serves no useful monetary purpose. Nobody is expecting a mEXICO TYPE liquidity crisis in GERMANY or France.
On the supply side, the South African Gov. will keep the Traansvaal operating until it is bankrupt, because otherwise it won't
be able to cope with the apocalyptic effects of unemployment caused by mine closures. Also, the Fed is watching Gold closely, and Gold won't be able to break $400, unless Greenspan gets caught up in other markets, and forgets about Gold. Producer selling will not subside, but
worsen, as most of them are now favoring prudence. The only thing that might get gold going is a market meltdown. Sell Kinross!
