DJ, how come you don't get it? Man this must be a super-difficult concept [it must be the difficultist - giggle; that's a good one if I do say so myself] <So it's trust "Mq this time". And trust, what he says they say. >
I think you simply misread my comment "Trust me. That's what they say". I was simply quoting what the religious edict givers say. I did not mean you should trust me. My English is obviously defective if you don't know what I meant.
To really, really, really belabour the point, no, you don't need to trust me. You can take what I say, check it against reality, and see if it fits. If it doesn't, then it's wrong as far as you are concerned. I claim zero special powers, no mystical insight, no unique view. I'm just an ears, eyes, nose, taste, touch input guy with a comparator system built in to compare past experiences and ideas with latest advice from the outside, then poke the outside world to see what it does in response to my ponderings.
The point about religious masters is that you specifically do NOT have the ability to have the same insight. They are the priest and you are the follower. You specifically are excluded from the ability to have the insight to determine the facts for yourself. You must just accept the word of the mystical magical supernatural as given specially to your master and then explained to you who must obey.
DJ, please tell me it isn't that hard to understand.
Repeat the catechism after me, "I don't have to trust Mq. I must think for myself. I must check what he says against my own observations. He is just another half-witted chimpoid primate thingy, bamboozled by what's around and trying to make sense of it".
Okay, say that half a dozen times and you'll be getting the point.
Then, go see your priest and he'll give you a different mantra to mumble. Something along the lines of " ... all-knowing, this is the word of the big fella, here is the word handed down as handed down my me, who is the carrier and edict maker of the official word, now give us 140 Hail Mary's and let's have no more of that heretical stuff or we'll have to have an excommunication and preferably a witch-burning."
Try it DJ. Tell me if you see the light. Or even just a glimmer at the end of the quantum tunnel.
Mqurice
PS: Of course others might also be talking about oranges and stuff ... I'll stick to a single point. In fact, I'll drop it. [You can check that fact for yourself] |
