<<"We will not enter Iraq as conquerors. We will not treat the Iraqi people as a defeated nation," he said, reading from a written statement.>> That depends entirely on the views of the Iraqi's and their Arab neighbors -- it is absurd to assume that the Iraqis will see us as coming to their rescue. After a decade of sanctions, they don't have a high opinion of us. Ask what the invasion will look like. If it is a cakewalk and few die, and if we can quickly help establish a real, domestically supported government and then the hell out of there -- then we will look great. Nobody in their right mind would bet the farm on that scenario, except the hawks around Bush. The problem with the hawks is not that they are hawks -- it is that they are naive hawks.
