Winners for the next cycle? Lets start with the chip related stocks first. Of the top of my head I would suggest picking the leaders throughout the downturn to come out in better shape than the also rans. So as I see it you have AMAT in the chip equipment space, CREE in LED's, INTC for CPU's, JBL in EMS, LLTC in Analog Chips, MCHP in microcontrollers, RFMD in RF chips, TXN in DSP's and XLNX in PLD's.

Now we can add other stocks to this list like any of those that Cary likes because they have all maintained profitability throughout this downturn. We can also venture outside of the chip space into other areas of technology where CSCO and DELL are obvious winners but we need to ask the question have we hit bottom yet?

We can also consider stocks outside of technology as viable investment alternatives. That's really worthy of a lot of discussion in my opinion. Anyway, I don't think we have hit bottom but I do think picking those companies with a competitive advantage, low debt and continued profitability will ultimately pay off from some level.
