Sorry, maybe I should not have made that generalisation. I will try and be more specific.

For people who have grown up in safe environments, and who have had a religious education but ignored it, because it was "crap", when suddenly confronted with immediate danger beyond their control, religion is something they immediately turn to.

I hope this clarifies things.

My general point is that maybe religion is not such a bad thing as sometimes presented these days. I am fortunate that it has only done me some good, and little harm if any.

OTOH I understand critics. When missionaries regard religion as "business" yeah.... many problems result.

As a young kid I was educated by nuns. Some of them were real good looking even though they were "of the faith". Some of them went to Africa and such places and were incredibly brave. Most influential on a young mind. Just one of those things -g-
