Quite possible, but why should that ( if so ) have anything to do with motivating both sides towards peace talks? If anything, it should expose the need for that process to begin ASAP to curtail their influence.

It isn't just possible, it's the facts.. 60 minutes confirmed it last week (although reported previously right after the incursions). They showed the documents

cbsnews.com

Eisen showed Stahl a document from Arafat's files about meetings of terrorist groups in late October, 2001, just six weeks after the terrorist attacks on the U.S. They were planning is a diversion from what happened at the World Trade Center and at the Pentagon to the violence in Israel.

Iran sent a message telling the groups you "must not allow a calming down at this period…carry out suicide attacks against Israeli targets in Gaza, in the West Bank and inside Israel."

Israeli intelligence continues to mine their treasure of Arafat's database, and to keep the Bush Administration informed. In fact, Israeli intelligence officers were at the White House just this week to brief the Administration.

Now... can you imagine if the US told Israel to continue their incursions into the West Bank in order to insure there was no "calming period"??

Also, apparently these "requests" were made around the same time Iran was put on the "Axis of Evil" list..

Now you can ignore that reality if you wish, but I can't...

So long as the Arafat and the other groups in the PA feels they have "moral" and financial support behind them, they will continue their activities..

And you might recall that Hamas and Hezbollah have VOWED TO DESTROY Israel, not obtain peace on mutually acceptable terms.

THEY DON'T WANT PEACE (except when they are getting the @sses kicked, and THEN only until they rebuild their strength for round 2+).. They WANT TOTAL ANNIHILATION OF ALL ISRAELI JEWS and anyone else who doesn't hold the same religious views they have...

Anyone believing anything else is living in a dream world.

That's why the militant states in the region must be quashed and moderate political leaders advanced to a level that they can properly represent.

And those militant states are the ones advocating the destruction of another state (not just another government.. the ENTIRE STATE, population and all).. Israel.
