Flair,

Flair and all,

Re. since the market may move up if Greenspan does not try to talk down market.

I seriously think Alan G. should stop his verbal manipulation of the market--or the use of body language--as neither "managing the economy" nor "managing the financial markets" should be in Fed's jurisdiction. I once read the entire text of the Federal Reserve Bank's charter, and these functions aren't there.

If he is genuinely concerned about the market froth, all he and other Fed Governors have to do is to raise the margin requirement to 75% from the present 50%. This would be well within Fed's power and requring no congressional approval. Yet we have never heard of any discussion of it, let alone any debate or action.

Just my 2 cents.
