It wasn't actually the loyalists who won the day for Canada. It was the natives. The Americans were scared sh@*less of them. 1812 saw a poor, bedraggled, colony of a mere 300k people in Canada win a war (which was mostly expansionary) against a moneyed, organized, republic of 8M. Canada should growup. It is time we recognised that we are a mature nation. Some may feel the need to cling to the the Queen Mommy's apron... I do not.
