Crop Circles

Crop circles started up in the 1980's and were great. Everyone who was sure aliens were around now had proof. After all humans were smart enough to go out and mash down crops. They were just obviously not smart enough to make pretty patterns. It takes super intelligent aliens to do that.
All this great stuff came to an end when two English guys fessed up to inventing crop circles. What really made them a pain is they were able to explain all the stuff that UFO folks said couldn't be done by mere humans. This could have been a tremendous black eye for true, bonified UFO researchers who want to be taken seriously by the scientific community. Fortunately however the aliens decided to make crop circles too. Like building pyramids in the desert the aliens saw that making patterns in crops was one of those rare good ideas by humans. So now the UFO researchers can say things like "20% of the circles are human origin, 60% are from an undetermined cause, and 20% are made from an unknown extraterrestrial source. [This sort of statement is so they are recognized as serious researchers.]
One of the difficulties that has arisen with crop circles is there is such a difference between human and alien intelligence. Aliens are so much more astute and intelligent that we humans lag hopelessly behind. Try this simple test: Ask a friend what they would do if they traveled across the galaxy to an inhabited world. I have yet to get the correct answer--'I would not reveal my presence but I would make pretty patterns in their food supply.'
