The CBOE site has VIX data going back to Jan 1986. The CBOE site has VXN data going back to Jan 1995 (but I think the early VXN data is calculated, instead of real historical data). You can download a file that has the VIX data for 1986 - 2001, and a separate file for VIX data for 2002 (the current year). See: cboe.com There are hot links for downloading the historical values for both VIX and VXN. So Chip was wrong when he wrote <<the VIX was introduced in 1993 and so we're unable to compare its current readings with readings from prior market bottoms.>> Larry
