Not quite true. Attacks often come indirectly. Do you remember? "The price of freedom is eternal vigilance"?

The world is a global society. None of us have entire resources sufficient unto our development or interests. We are all one country. A tight-assed adherence to doctrine at the expense of reality is just an exercise in neurosis.
