The 17 July update states:

"The resets on the lander computer were caused by a software task
that was unable to complete the task in the allotted time," said
Flight Director Brian Muirhead. "We found that the task was being cut short because it had not been given high enough priority to run to completion."

Thus it was an application error not an OS error.

Seems like Coffee of PC Week has a problem with WIND.. wonder what his real gripe is? Possibly his article was written before this data was known, but it still doesn't leave you with much faith in PC Week.

And thanks to Microware for the post. I would have thought they had more class.
